Who is Green Eyed Soul Dance Band? Green Eyed Soul Dance Band came together to play and enjoy music that moves the body, expresses deep emotions and brings us all together. We are musicians who share the belief that funk, soul, jazz and R&B is music that works as a unifying force.  Funky music embraces physical movement, sweat, and the visceral release of energy as valid way of understanding the world. It brings together a group of individual musicians locking complex, syncopated rhythms into a shared foundation rather than showing off, where the collective groove matters more than any ego….it is something we wish to see in the larger community. It is a celebration of community, bodily liberation, and an alternative form of expression rooted in African-American vernacular tradition. We recognize Black people have been and continue to be ignored for their significant contributions to American culture and history. We hope to honor their contributions and pay homage by sharing in the spirit and the music that remain among the best expressions of the collective human condition. We also recognize the complexities of cultural appropriation inherent in the concept of blue-eyed soul. We hope we can do justice to the music and philosophy we share and love.
